In the spirit of Eid Al-Adha, we’ll be highlighting some common traditions on the day of Eid that women have come to accept as part of the norm, which makes them unable to enjoy and fulfil the obligations on the blessed day.
Not Dressing Up For Eid
As a woman, you should put on your favourite dress on the day of Eid, yes that dress you’ve been saving for a “special occasion”. Put it on after having a nice shower, look good, use a little amount of makeup if you want, wear that pretty shoe and look your best. That is how every woman should be on Eid.
Staying In The Kitchen All Day
Yes, a woman has to make delicious meals on the day of Eid and make sure everyone is having enough to eat as it is a festive day. That doesn’t necessarily mean she has to spend all day in the kitchen cooking and tending to everybody’s needs because what about her own needs. She also needs to enjoy the day and do what everyone else is doing. As a family, all the work shouldn’t be left to the woman alone especially on the day of Eid, everybody should come together and put efforts in making the day a lovely one. That way, nobody is feeling too overwhelmed or too tired. Even if the woman has nobody to help her, she can as well plan her day properly so she can also have sometime to enjoy the festive period.
Not Observing Eid Prayers
Even though there are lots of narratives pertaining whether women should observe Eid Prayers or not, women should still observe Eid prayers. This could be done at the mosque or at home. Due to the situation the world is at right now, so many families opt to pray Eid at home. A lot of women simply do not observe Eid due to their own reasons which is wrong as Eid is an obligatory prayer for both men and women and we (women) should also be longing for the rewards of the blessed day.
